Chacapamac created the topic: JPanel work only if assign to existing positions
I install JPanel on a joomla 3.2
Work perfectly but only if I assign it to existing positions.

The problems is when assign to existing positions, the module take some space in fronted (where it was assigned) - This is unusable that way.

I don’t want JPanel to appear anywhere in fronted, but I want it to bring the tabs without having any effect on the layout.

Not sure how to achieve that.

Rockettheme template in local development.

I try to assign it to a non existing position but the Tabs do not appears?

The jPanel has a position ABSOLUTE, so It should work like you said.....WiTHOUT showing any weird space in the layout, it's surely 100% a bad css/PHP (not html) template coding, so you could solve it with these options:
  1. add a new layout position in the template
  2. modifying the CSS to collapse the empty space

This is a commercial Template name Epsilon by RocketTheme - I doubt it have something to do with a bad coding. Maybe I did it wrong.
demo.rockettheme.com/joomla-templates/epsilon/

Your Solution is surely good :cheer:

add a new layout position in the template
modifying the CSS to collapse the empty space

On this template they have a CSS collapse module use for Google Analytic - When I assign JPanel there, it work. I see my tab and now space is taken in the visual template.

My settings for the JPAnel Module…

j• Panel content: article or modules? = Module
• Button Type = HTML
• Position = Set to “Analytics (collapse Module” work without addend space in the layout — If I take any existing position, the tab show but space is added were the position exist.
• Load modules from what module position? = “myjpanel_position”

I have no other module assign to ”myjpanel_position” because, in this test, I didn’t want to have a panel but only a button (tab) with an html link.

I have no module assign to

I know rocketTheme, and I know many software houses and the way they code.
the fact the template or a component/extension is a commercial one, doesn't necesserily means they are well coded!
I can tell you....I saw many FREE / open source extensions/software MUCH more well coded than the commercial alternatives.

for example the template you just mentioned......have you took a deep look on it? do you knowi it's VERY heavy?....in terms of performance in the new "mobile" era that template is not the best choice.

By the way, I'm glad you solved the issue.
cheers Giro
